In a surreal journey through the human mind, ‘After Light’ weaves an exploration of our mutable selves. The film steers viewers into a slightly distorted dreamscape that illuminates our dance with a changing world. Strange characters move in a world where boundaries between reality and artifice are ambiguous. Alongside towering giants, they find their way in this chaos, sculpted by unknown forces. As the narrative unfolds, the protagonists ignite, hinting at a loss that is both beautiful and tragic, yet not all-consuming. In an unexpected playful twist on dystopia, ‘After Light’ suggests that even though we may be losing parts of our intrinsic nature to artificial influences, we are also on the brink of a new kind of existence – one that we are just beginning to grasp.
